The logo is called 'Takawhiti o te Reo Ahurea' which is translated as ‘Moving Language & Culture Forward’. It was crafted by Takawhiti Taiapa while she was living in Tūranganui-ā-Kiwa, in the 1950s. It is a cross-stitch pattern. The logo symbolizes te mana o te reo Māori as expressed in the vibrant colors and te mana o te ao Māori in the dazzling patterns.  These two elements interact together, showing how te reo Māori penetrates every aspect of te ao Māori. In other words, te reo Māori is an outward expression of an inward conviction of te ao Māori. The logo and its meaning provides the conceptual foundation on which all the work of e-Tipu e-Reo is based.
